VITOSHA MOUNTAIN

In Bulgaria there are a total of 36 mountains. Vitosha is the only mountain in Europe so close to a capital city.

It is only 20 minutes drive from the city center. This is the first natural park in Bulgaria. Its highest peak is Cherni Vrah / Black Peak, 2290 m /.

Vitosha is an abundant mountain. It has more species of flora and fauna than in the whole island of the UK. There is situated the longest cave in the country, Duhlata, with its 17 km length.

In Vitosha there is a ski resort with a night tour, numerous hiking trails  and huts, and on the slopes of the mountain are the National Historical Museum and the Boyana Church.
