Begin your journey with a convenient hotel pickup in Sofia. Enjoy a scenic drive through the stunning landscapes of southwestern Bulgaria, filled with fresh air, tranquility, and breathtaking views.
Your first stop is Heraclea Sintica, an impressive archaeological site that brings the past to life. In ancient times, the city was the center of the region of Sintika, inhabited by the Thracian tribe Sinti.
Since 2007, archaeological excavations have been taking place at Heraclea Sintica. Discover strange structures above it, including tunnels and an arch.
Learn about the geosonar examination by Russian specialists that revealed a large studio for producing ceramic masks for an unknown and as yet unrevealed ancient theatre. In 2024, excavations in an ancient sewer revealed most of a marble statue of Hermes that had been placed carefully in the sewer and then covered with soil.
Walk among the ruins of this once-thriving ancient city, explore its well-preserved streets, and learn fascinating stories about life during the Hellenistic and Roman periods. Then, continue to Rupite, a unique natural area known for its volcanic origin, warm mineral springs, and peaceful atmosphere. This serene place is closely connected to the famous Bulgarian mystic and prophet Baba Vanga, who lived here and welcomed visitors seeking guidance. Visit her home and the beautiful church Saint Petka, built with her support, adding a spiritual touch to the experience. The area is also impressive with its magnificent park, situated just next to the church.
After that, enjoy a lunch break in a local restaurant.
In the evening, return to Sofia.
